The Jury will consist of Jurors appointed by the Competition Organiser.

Jurors

  Dr Nirmal KISHNANI (Singapore), PhD, is Chief Editor of the FuturArc Journal and resident Jury Chair of FuturArc competitions. He is an advocate, educator and practitioner in the field of Green building design, presently with the Department of Architecture at the National University of Singapore where he holds the appointment of Assistant Dean and Programme Director. He has lectured and written widely on the subject of Greening process. Since 2002 – when he founded one of the first dedicated Green design consultancy operating in Asia – he has been involved in landmark projects in the region including the Asian Development Bank, Manila, and Gardens by the Bay, Singapore.

Dr Kishnani sits on several advisory panels in Southeast Asia; he is active in the development of policy instruments and capacity building in the Green building sector. Dr Kishnani is author of the 2012 FuturArc publication, Greening Asia – Emerging Principles for Sustainable Architecture.
  Florian HEINZELMANN (Indonesia) received his Diplom-Ingenieur (FH) degree in Architecture from Munich University of Applied Sciences and a Diploma from the Berlage Institute, Rotterdam. He was working for UNStudio, Amsterdam on several projects, most notably, as the project leader for the Fraunhofer Institute - Center of Virtual Engineering (ZVE) in Stuttgart. The building received a Gold certificate of the German Sustainable Building Council DGNB. He was also a member of the UNStudio Sustainable Buildings knowledge group.

In 2009, he started as researcher at TU Delft Faculty of Architecture and begun his PhD research on Adaptive Daylight Systems in large roofs under Prof Dr-Ing Patrick Teuffel. During that time, he was also the Project Manager/Leader of the Solar Decathlon 2012 team as well as tutoring Master students. Afterwards, he joined Patrick Teuffel at TU Eindhoven. Also in 2009, together with Tobias Hofmann and Daliana Suryawinta, he set up their office SHAU, with current locations in Passau, Germany and Bandung, Indonesia. SHAU won several awards e.g. Architizer +A award for their Microlibrary Bima and American Architecture Price Small Firm of the Year in Sustainable Architecture. Florian received several study and research grants and is regularly lecturing at universities, speaking in conferences and publishing research papers and articles.
  Dr Niramon KULSRISOMBAT (Thailand) is an assistant professor at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. She received her B. Arch (Hons.) from Chulalongkorn University and MA and D. Eng. in Urban Engineering from the University of Tokyo. Since 2005, Dr Kulsrisombat has taught urban design at Chulalongkorn University. In 2013, she was co-founder and director of the Urban Design and Development Center (UddC), the first urban agency in Bangkok that includes the local government; public and private sector; and the civil society in a decision-making process to propose innovative solutions for urban development. UddC is aimed to be a deliberative platform to engage a wide range of stakeholders in the city, working with local residents and stakeholders in a participatory way. Key milestone projects of UddC include Bangkok250, GoodWalk Bangkok and Yannawa Riverfront.

In 2016, Dr Kulsrisombat was invited as a Fellow of the Collegium de Lyon, and an associate researcher in the Institute for East Asian Studies (IAO), the ENS de Lyon and RIVES, as well as the Ecole nationale des travaux publics de l’État (ENTPE), France. This year, 2017, she became an invited professor at the Science Po de Lyon, France.

 

Assessment Committee

The Assessment Committee consists of the following members as appointed by the Competition Registrar:

– Robert Krups, CEO, BCI Asia;

– Candice Lim, Managing Editor, FuturArc

The Assessment Committee will ensure the validity of all entries according to fulfillment of the Competition Conditions and to prepare the materials for the Jury. It has no role in judging the submissions.
